I just got some sad news

A dear friend of mine, her son just called me a little while ago. She died yesterday of leukemia. I wanted to go see her this past weekend but didn't want to expose her to the nasty cold/flu germs as I was just getting over it. So I called her last week and she was doing really well and then took a turn for the worse this week evidently. I have been friends with her for 18 years, she was like a 2nd mom to me. She has been in bad shape so now her suffering is over.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to not be too sad because she didn't want that. She accepted her fate and went willingly, although I will miss her. We only worked together for 2 weeks in 1990 and became fast friends and stayed close ever since. We shared views on reincarnation and pretty much had the same spiritual outlook.
Several months ago I asked her when she crossed over to make a white flower bloom in my yard to let me know everything was OK. I chose white because I don't have any white flowers. The next morning as I was leaving for work I smelled something very fragrant and there on the porch the cactus plant she gave me several years ago had a huge white flower in bloom on it. I called her worried she may have passed the night before, but she hadn't ofcourse and took it as a good sign that everything would be OK. No flowers bloomed overnight so that may have been the sign I asked for. I plan to share that story with her family when we get together in about a week over dinner. I think they may take some comfort in it.
